The In-between

The In-Between

Prologue:

Bang!

A boy sat at a desk in his first grade class. He looked up, hearing the sound. The teacher continued talking. He continued he work. He looked up again and listened close. Tiny footsteps echoed next to him.

“Kion White,” The teacher suddenly said. “What is three multiplied by two?” Kion looked up at his teacher.

“The answer is six Mrs. Vixen.” He replied. The teacher nodded and pointed to another student and asked her a question. Kion looked down at his feet. A tiny creature was scampering up his leg.

“Mrs. Vixen!” He yelled. Mrs. Vixen turned towards him, a scowl on her face.

“Mr. White, what is the meaning of this interruption?” She asked him.

“There is a thing on my leg. Come look.” The thing on his leg smiled and disappeared. Mrs. Vixen came and examine his leg. She stood and smiled.

“Kion, I know sitting in a classroom for a few hours is hard at your age. That does not give you a reason to lie and make up a story to get out of class.” Mrs. Vixen turned and continued her lesson. Kion frowned. He swore he saw it. The day continued without the thing coming back. That night at the dinner table, it landed in his food. Without him noticing.

“So Kion, how was school?” Mrs. White asked.

“Pretty good. I learned about multiplying by two.” Kion looked at his meatloaf. His meatloaf stared back.

“That’s great honey.” Mrs. White turned to her daughter. “Rowen, how was your day?” As his sister recounted the day’s events, Kion looked at the thing. Its hair was purple. The thing was only about three inches tall. It was wearing a jade green dress with black boots. Tiny wings sprouted from it back. It climbed over to him and climbed onto his head.

“Mom!” Kion yelled. “There is a purple haired creature on top of my head.” Mrs. White turned towards him. The creature poked his nose.

“Son, you have a vivid imagination.” Mr. White said. Kion slumped in his seat and pouted. Why did no one believe him? The creature, bored with him, disappeared. Kion excused himself from the table and got ready for bed. As he climbed into his bed, he looked out window and whispered,

“Is there anybody else like me?”

The Crippled Destiny.

By: Shanti Sol.

Prologue. Life on Jupiter.

Me and my family were born on Jupiter. By my family I mean my younger brother and sister. My name is Cylus Knight and I am 16. My sister’s is Raya Knight and she is 8. My brother’s is Oly Knight and he is 12. I have black hair that touches the seat of my pants. I have emerald eyes and red lips. My sister looks like me but with shoulder length hair and blue eyes. My brother has blond hair and blue eyes. Anyway our parents died right after Raya was born. They were astronauts and had crash-landed their ship before I was born. So when I was born, I began to breathe the air that was on Jupiter. My parents had to stay in the ship though. Then came along Oly and then Raya. When they found out that Raya could breathe the air too, they thought they could to. But they couldn’t and they died. We were left on this strange planet with no one to help us. So I took on the responsibility to care for my younger siblings. Trying to find food on Jupiter is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We found some though. We dug up red and blue and black dames. They are little balls that grow on branches but underground.  Some are sweet and some are sour. We live in an area that has a bunch of dames. We live in mom and dad’s crashed spaceship. The “eye” of Jupiter is pretty intense. Luckily, mom and dad’s spaceship landed across from the “eye,” or in other words the other side of Jupiter. Jupiter is a dessert planet. The temperature can get up to 200 degrees F. The lowest it can get to is -300 degrees F. Our life was pretty basic until one day changed our entire lives.

Chapter 1. The Stranger

“C.K? C.K wake up! Its morning and you have to make us breakfast.”  I groaned. I turned over and found Raya staring at me.

“Are you serious? I was sleeping. You couldn’t wait for a little while?” I exclaimed.

“Well, we could but my stomach is growling.” Raya replied.

“Wait, you both are awake?”  How long have I been asleep?  I wondered.

“Yep. Oly has already picked some dames for dame strudel.” Raya was practically pulling my arm off.

“But, I could make the strudels myself if you still want to sleep.” Oly said as he entered the room.

“No, no. It’s okay. I’m already up so I’ll make them.” I replied as I got out of bed and walked to the doorway. Oly and Raya followed. “Okay guys. I’ll need a big glass pan I can put in the oven, some stevia, honey, and natural Jupiter pears. Then I’ll need butter and…” I trailed off. The kitchen was already filed with all the ingredients and utensils I needed. “How early were you up?” I asked.

“Six am. We wanted it to be prepared by the time you got up and made the strudels.” Oly replied beaming with pride.

“Thank you! That was so thoughtful.” I exclaimed and hugged them both. About an hour later the strudels were done and we sat down at the table. “Can you get me the honey Raya?” I asked.

“Sure.” Raya got up and got the honey just as someone knocked at the door of the spaceship.

“Stay here. I’ll get it.” I said getting up. I opened the door and found a guy in a space suit standing there. “Hi come in. Where are you from?” I asked.

“’Hello. I am from earth…”

“What’s earth?” I interrupted him.

“Um, it is the third planet from the sun. It has land and water. Well, do you have a map of the solar system or something?” He responded.

“Excuse me? We are on Jupiter with little supplies and you think we have a map of the –what did you call it? – solar system.”  I replied with sarcasm.

“Well, I was just wondering if you did otherwise I would be able to show you where it was.” He explained.

“Excuse me but again we are…” I exclaimed

“Come and have some dame strudels.” Oly interrupted looking me in the eye and nodding.

“I would love to but I came to take you to earth.” He replied cautiously.

“What’s your name?” I asked.

“My name is,” He remarked taking off his space helmet, “Cameron” I just stared. Cameron had beautiful golden hair with brown eyes. He had nice bangs that covered half his forehead. Cameron looked like a model.

Wow. He is so cute. Cylus how could you? You don’t even know him and you are already falling head over heels for him.

“Um, are you there,” Cameron asked looking me in the eyes, “I just asked you what your name was.”

“Oh, sorry. My name is Cylus. This is my brother Oly and my sister Raya.” I replied, embarrassed.  Raya and Oly smiled and said Hello while I went into the kitchen to set an extra setting at the table. When I called them to come and finish breakfast, they came in chatting like they were best friends.

“…and it has animals like dogs and cats.” Cameron was saying as he sat down in a chair.

“What are cats and dogs? Some type of fungus?” Oly asked.

Cameron laughed. “No. They are what we call pets.” We started eating in silence. But then, of course, silence is meant to be broken. “So can I ask how you guys got here in the first place?” Cameron asked dabbing his face with a napkin.

“Ok, you want a long story?” I asked.

“Yep. Let’s hear it. “

“Ok here goes nothing. Our parents were astronauts. One day they crashed landed. I was in my mom’s stomach at the time, so I began to breathe the air on Jupiter. Then Oly and Raya came along and they found out she could breathe the air too. They thought that they could breathe the air. They tried but they died.” I looked at my hands, too sad to say anything else.

“I am so sorry.” Cameron scooted his chair over to mine and put his arm around me.

“Move the arm or you lose it. “ I exclaimed madly. For a second his arm retracted and he didn’t put it back on.  Okay, I’ll admit it I was being a jerk. But that’s what happens when I get nervous. Something slung itself over my shoulder. I looked up to see Cameron looking at me.

“I’ll take my chances.” He replied.

“Wait how did you get here?” Oly asked ignoring Raya’s snickers.

“I uh, crash landed. I was supposed to land gently and take you to Earth but I crash landed and here I am.” Cameron moved his arm and showed us a scrape that went all the way from his index finger to his elbow.

“Ouch.” I actually felt a little sympathetic for the guy.

“So can you help me fix it?” He asked.

“Sure.” Oly replied not waiting for my answer. Cameron put his space helmet back on and we all went outside. A big mess of metal and plastic sat in a pile on the ground. Then there was the toilet and its contents.

“Eww.  That’s disgusting.” Raya pinched her nose and walked away from the mess. Oly went inside to get cleaning supplies.

“So, what are we supposed to fix? It all looks destroyed.” I remarked looking around at the wreckage.

“Dang. The Jupiter heat must have melted it.” Cameron looked around. “By the way, where did Raya and Oly go?”

“Probably inside.” Are they just going to leave me out here with this guy and his broken spaceship? Come on Oly, you said you were getting supplies.

We decided to go back inside. Cameron thought that he could make our spaceship work. But I said no. Our home would be destroyed.

“Took you long enough.” Raya remarked as she walked into the living room.

“Well, we found out that there is no way to fix Cameron’s spaceship.” I replied. Cameron suddenly jumped and grabbed me. On the ground crawling stiffly towards the door was a giant spider. Raya screamed as the spider jumped on the couch next to her. She froze in fear. I ran to Raya and pulled her out of the way just before the spider bit her. But it bit me.

                                                                +

“Cylus? Are you okay?” Cameron was kneeling over me and checking my pulse.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” I sat up and looked at my leg. I almost screamed. There on my leg was a bite the length of a giant banana. “What is on my leg?”

“So, after the gigantic spider bit you, you fainted.” Oly informed me. “Also, Cameron killed the spider. You can thank him later right know we have to get to earth.”

“Why? Why do we have to leave our home and go to some random planet we don’t even know about?” I asked.

“We have to go right now because they have anti-venom for that bite. Also if you don’t get up the venom will probably spread to your entire body and you’ll be paralyzed.” Cameron replied. He held out a hand to help me up. I tried to get up by myself with no luck. I finally took his hand and he pulled me up. His hand was warm. When I got to my feet, I realized that my leg was not usable.

“Okay, so anybody have crutches?” I asked leaning against the wall.

“Not that I know of.” Cameron replied, examining the bite. “This is a big bite. We have to get going now.”

“Ok. Raya and Oly, get all of your stuff. Then, make sure you have enough food.” I ordered.

“We have food on earth. You probably just need enough to get Cylus back on her feet again.” Cameron looked around to try and find something to help me.

“Wait, did you fix the engine?” I asked trying not to wince.

“Yep. While you were unconscious I got out some very old tools and fixed it.” Oly replied as he came out with a packed bag. Raya came out behind him slapping him on the back of his head.
Oly turned and whacked her across the face.

“Woah, what is going on here? Raya, why did you slap him? Oly, why did you slap her back?” I was astonished at their behavior.

“If you must know, Oly took my bag and I asked him for it back but he wouldn’t hand it over. So we got into a hitting fight and then Oly ran out here and then I slapped in again.” Raya replied, glaring at Oly.

“Well you guys need to learn to control yourselves understand? We are going to be on another planet for who knows how long and we are going to have to be there for each other, okay?” Both Raya and Oly nodded and went into the kitchen. I hobbled over to Cameron. Oly and Raya came out and asked when we could go.

“Right now.” Cameron said, heading over to the other side of the engine. There was a lever. Pulling it he shouted, “Ready?” All 3 of us nodded. Cameron pulled the lever. There was a thump and soon they were rising up in the air. I looked down just in time to see a big black spider like the one that bit me fall off of the spaceship. We shot out of Jupiter and gasped.

                                                                                +

Around us were a thousand lights. Cameron glided the spaceship to the left and to the right so we could see the entire area. We passed a red ball. “That’s Mars.” Cameron explained steering to the left and heading straight for a blue, white, and green planet.

“Okay. This must be earth right?” Oly asked. I guessed it must have been too.

“Yes, beautiful right?” Cameron glanced back. “You okay Cylus?”

I grimaced. “Right now, it feels like my leg is being pulled off.” I pulled up my pant leg and gasped. In the short, oh I don’t know, 7 hours it took to fly to earth, my leg had swelled to the size of my head. Worse than that, it was all green.

“Ouch, we have to get you to earth fast.” Cameron replied, pushing the gas a bit more. Three screams echoed off of the walls. The space ship was on fire. “Don’t worry guys, this thing happens when you come back into earth.” Cameron replied. I double checked to make sure that my seat belt was firmly in place. Then I checked Raya’s and Oly’s. When I was completely positive that their buckles were in correctly, I turned my focus to the mass of blue coming straight at us.

“Wat is that?” I asked. Cameron pulled the lever up before answering.

“That is the sea. Near there is an island where we will seek refugee until further notice.” I felt sick to my stomach. The spaceship dove straight into the water.

Another Story Update.

“We don’t want a planet that too cold or too hot. It has to be able to sustain life and must have fresh water. I typed the instructions into the motherboard and….Shanti, are you paying attention?” Ciera asked, looking at Shanti. Shanti snapped to attention.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know a lot about technology.” Shanti blew one of her curls out of her face. They heard footsteps coming into the room. The girls turned, and saw Matthew and Max come in.

“Howdy Hey Shanti and Ciera,” Matthew exclaimed. “How’s everything doing?” Ciera spun and pointed at Shanti.

“Someone needs to teach this girl about technology. She doesn’t even know the basic coding instructions and, no offense Shanti, but she doesn’t even know how to build a rover.” Shanti smiled. “What’s so funny?” Ciera asked.

“You think that I don’t know the basic coding protocols or how to build a rover and that may be true, but I have talents that nobody else has.” Shanti turned to Matthew and Max. “Did you guys finish the new satellite? We need it pronto or else we can’t launch the rover.” Max held out a little disk-shaped item.

“We made sure that as soon as a picture was taken, it would be sent to us to analyze.” Matthew said, walking over to the rover. “Also, you put the wheels on wrong, you put the motherboard in backwards, and you typed the instructions into the wrong area.” Matthew picked it up and started making readjustments. “Although you did a good job for two girls who have no clue what they’re doing.” Matthew flashed a grin and the girls rolled their eyes.

“Whatever. I’m going to work on a new tablet.” Ciera replied, walking out of the room.

“I’m going to talk to other mathematicians on how far they want the rover to go.” Max said, patting Matthew on the shoulder and walking out.

“Do you want help?” Shanti asked, trying to be helpful. Matthew looked up and nodded. He pointed to some tools and Shanti handed them over.

“You have no idea what you were building, did you?” Matthew asked as he finished fixing the rover. Shanti shook her head and looked at the ground. “You did really great on it, for someone who’s not an engineer.”

“Thanks, but I really wish I could be all brainy like you guys. I mean, astronomers look at the stars and study the cosmos and doctors help people, but I wish I was smart in a tech way or a mathematical way.” Shanti pushed her glasses up. Matthew laughed and doubled over. “What?”

“You….you can’t really think that you’re not smart. You are one of the smartest people I know. You might not contain the solutions to a mathematical equation or be able to compute a tech computer, but you are smart in different areas.” Matthew smiled.

“Geez dude, you sound like my dad. But I appreciate it.” Shanti smiled. “We better start getting the printer ready for dinner.” Mathew stood and held out his hand. Shanti took it and he pulled her up.  They exited the room and went to the upper floor elevator. The got into the elevator and it was about to close.

“Wait!” A foot stopped the doors. Two twins, one girl one boy, stepped into the elevator.

Hope you guys enjoy! Have an amazing weekend.

The Interlude update.

Chapter two: What do we do now?

The spaceship wasn’t that big, but if could hold the one-hundred people destined to find a new home. But even spaceships have their issues. For one thing, the space ship couldn’t create food, so the travelers had to bring along a 3-D printer. For another, the spaceship had a limited amount of bathrooms, which meant that only a few people could use the bathrooms at a time. But the spaceship was the only way they were going to get where they needed to go so everyone respected it. The travelers consisted of a variety of different people from different cultures. There were botanists, engineers, technologists, doctors, farmers, astronomers, and more very important people. There also were a variety of children, ranging from 9-16. All of the children were super smart and very independent. The people in the spaceship could create something wonderful, or tear humanity to shreds.

Ciera Jones was a technologist. She was high advanced in all of her lessons and was a helper to all of the other children. Ciera has straight black hair with red highlights that went down her back and green eyes with violet specks. She had warm ivory skin with a touch of blush. Ciera is 5’8. Ciera’s co-lab partner was Max Howell. He was also a technologist, with the additional talents of a mathematician and astronomer. Max had light skin and black hair that had a touch of blue dye in it. He had amber eyes with flecks of green. Max is 5’11. Ciera and Max both had friends that the worked with daily. Ciera’s best friend is Shanti Sol. Shanti has short brown hair that curls to her shoulders. She has deep brown eyes and light brown skin. She has turquoise glasses with cheetah print on the sides. Shanti is 5’4. Max’s best friend is Matthew Gobea. Matthew has straight black hair and deep brown eyes. He has light brown skin and a killer smile. Matthew is 5’5. Shanti is an astronomer and a doctor. Matthew is an engineer and a technologist. Ciera and Shanti were working on a rover that could scout ahead for any planets that they could inhabit.

“We don’t want a planet that too cold or too hot. It has to be able to sustain life and must have fresh water. “

Ciera.
Ciera.

warm Ivory for Ciera.
For Max. The hair only.
The eyes for Max.

What do you guys think? I think I did pretty good making Ciera and Max. BTW I added myself in this story but she is going to be way cooler than me. Also. I added my super smart friend Matthew to my story too.

I hope you like it!

The Interlude. ~Shanti Sol

Prologue: Not enough time.

The man didn’t know how to do such a task with so little time. He didn’t know how to extract the DNA of the Earth and create the new planets. He didn’t know, but he had to know. The entire fate of the world rested on his shoulders. The man pulled on his lab coat and walked over to a cylinder marked DNA – Earth. He took a pair of tweezers from his pocket. His hands shook as he pulled out a long strand of DNA. The man put the strand into a rover.

“Call Waves.” He demanded to his phone. She picked up on the first ring. He knew something was wrong. She always made him wait.

“Earth’s going to explode in two hours. You need to get that to the Celestial Galaxy.”

“All the people are safe?” He asked. She sighed, having to admit a deadly truth.

“Only one hundred people made it onto the ship that traveled to the Celestial Galaxy. Seven billion people, including me and you, will die within the day.” The man stopped working, the words slowly sinking into him. He would die today, along with the 7 billion people he worked so hard to protect. He snapped to attention. He was going to get those DNA molecules to them.

“Angel, how do I increase the speed of light on the rover?” He asked, looking at the screen of the rover.

“One sec.” He put the phone on the counter and pulled on some gloves. “Ok, I’m back. First, tap into the security wall, fire wall, and the password slide. Type the password *****************. Type Speed Increase into the settings slide. Then, turn the rover over and add the atomic atoms to the breastplate. Open the black case, and take out the meteor dust. Add the meteor dust into the breastplate and put the rover onto the atomic platform. Make sure the coordinates are right, and then, well, blast off.” She sounded so calm. That’s what he always loved about her. As he finished the directions she’d given him, he thought about all of the things he’d never do. Never get married, have kids, watch his kids grow up, never have grand and great grand kids. But, he could help humanity. He would be the one to keep the Human Race alive.

“Standby, Waves.” He grabbed his phone, and ever so carefully brought the rover to his car. He turned it on, and it floated into the air. The air highway glowed as the self-driving car glided smoothly. The man looked down at the once beautiful earth, now black with garbage and smoke. The world once alive with sights and smells, now was empty of joy and love. The world itself, was crumbling. The volcanoes ready to explode. The world, ready to take its last breath. He looked up at the sky. Somewhere, light years away, were the Survivor Crew. Those who would make a new world, a new place, for humanity. The car slowly lowered to the ground. He was here. The ending point for him and 7 billion people. He took a deep breath, trying not to panic. The man took the rover to the launching pad, and attached it to the booster. He got back into his car and it moved a mile away. The man pressed a button, and the rover was launched into space so fast, it was like it didn’t even exist. He drove home, back to the black streets, back to the smoke, back to the destruction. He suddenly remembered that he put Angelina Waves on hold.

“Angel?” He asked, praying she was still there. There was some shuffling, then a breath.

“Forest? Is it done? Has it been sent?” He smiled. She was always worried after everything was done.

“Yes, it’s done.” Forest said to his co-worker. Angelina had been working with NASA since age ten. She was a genius. Forest had been recruited at sixteen, after he had found a way to extract energy from the sun to help keep earth alive longer. Now, at 22 and 25, he had to say what was on his mind. Before it was too late. Before he couldn’t say it anymore.

            “Angel?”

            “Yes?”

“I…..love you.” The emotions he’d been holding back for so long flooded his body. “I’ve loved you since I’d met you.” There was silence on the other side of the phone.

“Why didn’t you ever tell me? If you had told me then I would have told you that I loved you too. But….it’s too late.” He knew she was telling the truth. He looked at his watch. Ten minutes until the world was gone.

“Go out together?” He asked, looking at the world that was turning red.

“Go out together.” She repeated, and he knew that she was calm as ever. When the earth finally exploded, Forest knew one thing. They Survivors would succeed. That feeling was the last thing he felt before it was all over.

Yellowstone National Park.

Hey guys! This first week of September me and my family went to Yellowstone. It was an amazing experience that I am very gratful for. What was crazy is that 4 bison came up into the road behind and in front of our car.

These are two bison (The are not called buffalo. America decided to call them that due to Water buffalo in Africa.) I really like their vests of fur.

Me and part of my family went to the Prismatic Pool that was so beutiful. Here’s a picture. It has all of the colors of the rainbow-except the indigo and violet. It’s so cool:D

Who wants to see a terribe picture of me and my sister?? 🙂

Guess which one’s me???
Here is a bison walking.
This is me with straight hair-it is not naturally straight.
Here is my natrual hair- curly and all over the place XD
I took a picture of my youngest sister Ashlyn- 9- when she was sleeping, She’s so cute!

I made my sister Holland-11- a dress out of a blue blanket.
Here’s the back.
This is my Dad.
This is the baby that visited us. His name is Matthew.
